GETTING TICKETS
When can I buy tickets?
All tickets will go on sale on Sunday 11 May at 9am.
How many tickets can I buy?
If you live outside Cambridge
City you can buy:
· A maximum combination of 4 adult or young people's tickets, per person
or per booking.
· A maximum of 1 camping ticket per Full Festival ticket.
· A maximum of 4 children's tickets per adult ticket.
If you are a Cambridge
City resident you can buy:
· A maximum combination of 4 adult tickets or young people’s tickets,
per person or per booking.
Within this allocation you can buy:
· A maximum combination of 2 Cambridge city resident tickets.
· A maximum of 1 camping ticket per Full Festival ticket.
· A maximum of 4 children's tickets per adult ticket.
How can I book a ticket?
Booking is available from Sunday 11 May at 9amby the following
methods:
· Online at www.cambridgefolkfestival.co.uk
· By phone on 01223 357851
· Personal booking is available for
Cambridge city residents only from
Cambridge Corn Exchange Box Office, Wheeler Street.
Can I book by post?
No. This method was withdrawn in 2006 due to: the speed at
which tickets sell out; the introduction of online sales; to enable
staff to process more bookings on the day tickets go on sale; because
postal bookings can take up to twice as long to process as a phone
booking and mistakes in the completion of booking forms often took up a
large amount of staff time to sort out.
Can I book online?
Yes, at www.cambridgefolkfestival.co.uk from 9am on Sunday 11 May.
Please note that there is an additional booking fee when booking online,
to cover the cost of providing this service.
Can I book by phone?
Yes. The booking line is (01223) 357851 and will be open from 9am on
Sunday 11th May. We expect a large number of calls. Should the line be
engaged or if you are on hold, we would ask you to please be patient.
Ensuring customers have the correct information and have booked the
correct tickets can be time consuming. We accept Mastercard, Visa and
Maestro.
Can I book in person?
Only if you are a Cambridge city resident. Cambridge
City residents
should note that to reduce the queue’s size on Sunday 11th May, it will be limited to the purchasers of the first 500 Full Festival
tickets, out of the total allocation of Full Festival tickets discounted
for Cambridge City residents. Once these 500 tickets are sold out the
Box Office will close its doors.
How can I pay?
We accept Mastercard, Visa and Maestro. Cambridge City residents buying
in person may also pay by cash or cheque, providing they have a
guarantee card which is valid for the amount of the transaction.
Why have you withdrawn personal booking for
non-residents?
We have withdrawn personal booking for non-Cambridge
City residents due
to improvements in online booking and problems associated with queuing. Market research of last year’s ticket buyers found a queue to be
by far the least popular booking method, even for those who had queued.
In recent years the length of the queue, the earlier and earlier arrival
of customers, and the frustrations of those in the queue has become
increasingly problematic. People travelling from across the country to
purchase tickets is also inconsistent with the Festival’s wish to become
more environmentally friendly.
What is the best way to ensure I get a ticket?
Unfortunately there is no guarantee that you will be able to get a
ticket as demand for tickets is now so much higher than the numbers
available. If you have Internet access we would suggest using online
booking in the first instance.
How will you ensure that all tickets don't sell
out straight away online?
Only 60% of tickets will be available online.
What is a Cambridge City resident?
A Cambridge City resident is defined as a person living
within the Cambridge Billing Authority area, where Council tax is paid
to Cambridge City Council.
How will you ensure that Cambridge
City
residents, who are allowed to book in person, don't buy up all the
tickets?
Personal booking has been retained for Cambridge
City residents so that
they can visit their local box office. However, the number of tickets
available to personal bookers on 11 May has been restricted to reduce
the size of the queue and to ensure that Cambridge City residents are
not able to buy up all the tickets.
I am a Cambridge City resident, if I queue on
Sunday 11 May what tickets will I be able to buy?
Cambridge City residents will be able to buy up to 2 full festival
city residents tickets (1 per proof of residency) with 500 full
festival city residents tickets in total being made available to
queuers. Once these 500 full festival residents tickets are sold the
Box Office doors will close. Additionally, subject to availability,
residents can also buy non residents tickets and day tickets up to the
maximum allocation allowed per purchaser. However, note there is a
strong possibility that non residents tickets may be sold out before
you reach the front of the queue so we recommend you use the
alternative booking methods should you wish to purchase non residents
tickets.
Is it correct that there are only
500 tickets for Cambridge City residents?
No. There will be just as many discounted tickets for Cambridge City
residents as in previous years. 500 is the number of discounted Full
Festival tickets for Cambridge City residents, out of the total
allocation of discounted Full Festival tickets for Cambridge City
residents, that will be available to personal bookers on Sunday 11
May. The majority of discounted Full Festival tickets for Cambridge
City residents will be available online and others will be available
by phone. Cambridge City residents are also entitled to exclusive
Thursday night tickets, discounted Friday tickets, discounted Young
People's tickets, Disability and Concessionary Full Festival tickets.
What I.D. will Cambridge
City residents
require?
A separate proof of residence will be required when collecting EACH
Cambridge City resident ticket from the Box Office and at the Festival.
Proof of Cambridge City residence will comprise: a current Council Tax
Bill or utility bill showing name and address; photocopies will not be
accepted. In addition, similar identification with a Cambridge City
address will be required for EACH Cambridge City resident ticket when
entering the Festival. Cambridge city residents who arrive without the
necessary I.D. for EACH Cambridge city resident ticket will be required
to return home to obtain the necessary I.D. Do not attempt to pass on or
sell a Cambridge City resident ticket to someone who is not a Cambridge
City resident, as they will not be able to get in.
I'm from outside Cambridge City, can I get in
with a Cambridge City resident ticket?
No. A separate proof of residence will be required when collecting
EACH
Cambridge City resident ticket from the Box Office and at the Festival.
In addition, identification with a Cambridge City
address will be required for EACH Cambridge City resident ticket when
entering the Festival. Do not attempt to pass on or sell a Cambridge
City resident ticket to someone who is not a Cambridge City resident, as
they will not be able to get in.
What happens if I buy a ticket from a tout or
on eBay?
If you buy a Cambridge City resident ticket and you are not a Cambridge
City resident, you will not be able to get into the Festival. We
strongly discourage buying tickets from touts or ebay.
How can I get a refund?
You can obtain a refund by returning your tickets to Cambridge Corn
Exchange Box Office, Wheeler Street, Cambridge CB2 3QE by 1 July.
Refunds will be by cheque and will take approximately 2 weeks.
